Trevor Panczak opens the 2018 Cultural Arts Theatre Series with a Nov. 2 performance at the CATS Theatre.

It’s been a long, fun road for Trevor Panczak, who will ride into Westlock for his second appearance in the Cultural Arts Theatre Series Nov. 2 at the CATS Theatre.

His last show in Westlock was in 2012 and Panczak said he was eager to show people what he’s been up to.

“It was awesome, everyone in Westlock was really good to me,” he said. “It’s always fun to get on the road and share our music with people.”

His latest album, Where I go to Come Back, just finished its first vinyl pressing and Panczak said he will be playing songs from it as well as his whole catalogue and a few country classics.

“It’s pretty cool to be doing a show in Westlock and giving our thanks to the organizers who believed in us and thought enough of us to have us back,” said Panczak. “We’ll have the CD and vinyl at the show.”

While his career only began to kick into high gear in 2008 when he finished his second bout of recording in Nashville, Panczak has had a long-term relationship with music. He first started playing piano in school but traded the ivories in for steel strings when he picked up a guitar at age 14 and never looked back.

“It’s been rolling pretty awesome,” he said. “We had our busiest summer ever this year, we went on tour to a lot of places we had never been to and other places we were invited back to. It’s been one of those 10 years of overnight success-stories. But I love it, I love the industry, I love meeting new people and playing new venues and keeping those relationships going.”

Since he has had a life-long love of country music, Panczak said it only made sense for him to take it up as a vocation. His musical influences range from the classics like Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash to more modern artists like Garth Brooks and George Strait.

He added that the stories that go into the music was almost as compelling as the songs themselves.

“If you know the backline story about an artist you can’t help but feel connected to them.”

Panczak said anyone eager for a good night should come out, even if country music wasn’t their thing.

“We’re going to highlight the record and play some covers to help identify ourselves with the audience for those who haven’t heard us before,” he said.

“A lot of times we get people who are not necessarily county music fans that will hear our show, then they’ll tell us they changed their minds.

“So if you’re sitting on the fence, take a chance on us and we’ll try not to disappoint.”
