The Village of Clyde held its annual Summer Solstice Parade and Fair June 23. The kids entertainment was a definite highlight, as the bouncy houses, hamster balls and foam pit were all well used. Pictured, Jordan Lesyk was all smiles as she waded through the bubbles.

The Village of Clyde’s seventh annual Summer Solstice Parade and Fair went off without a hitch June 23.

Put on each year by the Clyde and District Ag Society, residents from around the region came to the village to take in the fun and fellowship only a small community can provide.

The day started off, as many community events do, with a pancake breakfast and branched out in to different events throughout the day, including the parade and kids’ entertainment in the form of bouncy castles and foam pits at the Clyde Curling Complex.

“I’m happy it didn’t rain on the parade. It looked like a lot of people were having fun and enjoying themselves, which I was happy to see because that’s what it’s for,” said ag society organizer Kelly Patry. “I think the community spirit is really good in Clyde and I like to be a part of it.”

“The community spirit is great, absolutely, and it always has been,” said mayor Nat Dvernichuk. “Clyde is an excellent little village,”

There was also face painting and glitter tattoos available, a sandpit filled with coins and inflatable kid-sized hamster balls the kids could bounce around in for the afternoon. The lines for the bouncy castles and hamster balls were long and didn’t recede until later in the afternoon.

Patry estimated about 200 kids went through the bouncy castle.

There were also gymkhana and mutton bustin’ events, a softball tournament, a trade show and market inside the curling rink and the Clyde Fire Department operated the concession stand.

“It’s a nice thing for a small town to put on, just for a family fun day,” said Patry.

“It went over excellently, “ said Dvernichuk, who was one of dozens to take part in the parade. “The parade was nice, the weather looked a little iffy in the morning, but it straightened out and it was an excellent day all and all.”
