The midget Warriors may have lost the battle last weekend, but the war that is the Northern Alberta Interlock League season is far from over.

The Wetaskiwin Kings came to town Dec. 8 for a tilt at the Rotary Spirit Centre and bombed the hometown Warriors 8-2 after scoring five unanswered goals in the first period. The Warriors now stand at 2-7 for the season.

“Our players came out flat and nobody was actually prepared to play and it showed on the score clock,” said head coach Gil Dubrule after the game.

There were a few candid conversations in the dressing room during the first intermission, he said.

“At this level, they know they haven’t done well, so we started singling out specific things we were doing wrong and actually pointing fingers at select players.”
