A new face will join Village of Clyde council as Danielle Dillman dominated the June 24 byelection.

Dillman, who won the contest with 62 votes was up against Karen Lennox, who received 20 and John Rollins who managed seven.

“I never pictured myself involved in small town politics, and I’m ready … to get a little more involved,” said Dillman following her victory.

Dillman ran with the intent to be a fresh set of ears for the community, and learn more about how things are done at the governing level. She’s been in Clyde for five years, with a job at Canada Post, where she interacts frequently with villagers.

“I could listen to their concerns, you know, and be their voice,” she said.

Next for Dillman and the council is a committee of the whole meeting on July 4, when council is set to review some of the village’s capital projects, and decide which ones are the priority, said village CAO Ron Cust.

She will be sworn in at the council meeting on July 8.

“At that time on the agenda will be a couple of items dealing with the interdevelopment plan that we’re working on with Westlock, and of course the ICFs,” said Cust.
