Charges are pending against the driver of a van towing a motorhome that flipped on its side on Highway 18 last week.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of the incident on Highway 18, near the Highway 777 turnoff west of Westlock at around 3 p.m. May 28.

RCMP were the first on scene followed by the Pickardville fire department, who called in reinforcements from the town fire department to conduct traffic control and to help clean up the mess as the contents of the motorhome were strewn about the highway. They were on the scene for several hours.

The roof of the vehicle was completely destroyed, but there were no injuries reported. The driver of the van towing the motorhome was cuffed on the scene and led away to a police vehicle.

“It was being towed and their towing mechanism or their towing method was not secure and it actually rolled,” said Westlock RCMP Cpl. Dennis Properzi. “The police are considering charges against the driver of the van.”
