Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce reborn

The Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce has officially reformed with a new executive selected at its March 6 meeting.

Graeme Harrington, from Properzi Tims law offices, will serve as the first president of the new iteration of the chamber, with Westlock Ford’s Paul Olsen taking on the role of vice-president.

Brandi Wolff, from Royal Lepage Town and Country Realty will serve as secretary and Justyce Montpetit, a manager at Alberta Treasury Branch will be treasurer. Denis Landry from Royal Lepage Town and Country Realty was also named a director.

“I’m happy that is done and excited that we’ve been getting lots of feedback and lots of interest from people coming forward,” said Wolff.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 21 at 8 a.m. at a location yet to be determined.

“It’s going to be the Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce so it will be Westlock and surrounding areas and we are looking into having a farm membership and some not-for-profits memberships as well, so there will be definitely be different levels of membership,” said Wolff.

Membership fees and membership packages will be on the agenda for the next meeting, as well as outlining some goals for the next year.

The meeting will also take a closer look at benefits of joining the Alberta Chamber of Commerce.

Wolff said she is encouraged at the amount of interest being shown by the community at large.

“We’ve had six donations already, for seed money, to get started. We’ve had six big donations of $500 a piece.”
