More than 200 car enthusiasts flocked to Westlock over the weekend to take in Precision Collision Repair and Restoration’s show N’ shine held July 22-23.

Nearly 80 vintage cars, pickup trucks and motorcycles and an appearance from reality TV star “Horny Mike” highlighted the second-year event.

Precision Collision Repair and Restoration owner Ehreth Horinek said he was pleased with the turnout.

“It was better than last year. We had a better turnout in terms of people and different cars from different areas,” Horinek said.

“We were a lot busier this year.”

The event kicked off with a steak supper on Friday night and a few cars on display, while Saturday was the full show and shine.

First-time participant Hank Gulaga brought his 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 from St. Albert.

“It’s a retractable, so it goes from a sedan to a convertible in 30 seconds,” Gulaga said.

“They only built it in three years, 1957, 1958 and 1959.”

He said he heard about the event last year, but couldn’t attend and said he was pleased to make it out.

“You need good food, good music and good trophies and the rest takes care of itself,” Gulaga said, adding the Precision event had it all.

“It’s great.”

Craig Empey purchased his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air over the winter and has been taking it out to car shows whenever he can.

“The girlfriend and I, we like coming out and meeting new people and having a good time,” he said.

Mike Henry, AKA “Horny Mike”, from the History Channel’s reality TV series Counting Cars make his second-straight appearance at the event and said he wouldn’t have missed it.

“I love coming out to these events. It’s still funny to me that people want me to come out,” Henry said.

“I think it will always be (funny) because I’m absolutely a completely regular cat that just got lucky.”

Aside from checking out the cars, Henry said he likes meeting with the fans.

“I love it. These are the people that keep our show on,” he said.

Horinek said while the fans enjoy Horny Mike, they enjoy hosting him.

“The people like him. The people that are in the car scene watch the show and they like to see him,” he said.

“He’s a great guy.”

Horinek added he intends to make the show an annual event and hopes to see it continue to grow each year.

“I think the combination of everything works,” he said.

“From the first year it’s worked, so we probably won’t change a lot of it. We’ll just get better at it.”
